This past weekend was one of my favourite times of the year, when it is time for the Folk Festival here in Vancouver. I always rent a super big lens for the festival (the Canon 70-200 2.8 for you camera geeks like me). This allows me to get really close up shots of the performers combined with getting a spot up close of course!
Folk fest is also a pretty social event for me and while many years I make sure I get up close for most shows, this year I decided that it was equally important to simply sit on a blanket with friends and enjoy the shows that way. Of course, I had to get up close and pull up my lens for a few shows and here are some shots from this years festival.
The performers in these photos include: Good for Grapes, Canailles, Geoff Berner and Serena Ryder.
Do you have a music festival each year where you are? Or an event that you can’t help but have your camera at the ready for?
