A Light Filled Day

photog muralI’ve been so energized this week by my creative work.  Not every week is like this, so I’m enjoying it while its here.  Between a photo gig that was so moving, my mentor session with the fabulous ladies of Hello Soul, Hello Business and then teaching the new Rule-Free Photography class, I’m feeling good.

I’m having such a blast with the Rule-Free gals.  I’ve been in total awe how they’ve embraced my quirky approach (because they get it) and how they’ve been bravely trying things that are outside of their comfort zones while also having a blast.  The images are just pouring into the flickr group and the participants are so amazing.

So in honour of all the experimenting and adventuring the participants have been doing (and inspired by the gorgeous sunshiney day here in Vancouver) I went out on a bike photo adventure seeking out some of the activities we’ve been exploring.  Today the participants were invited to do some Light Hunting (there’s a new session starting soon by the way) and I joined in on it during my bike adventures.

Light Hunters News

I’m excited to share that there are some big changes happening with Light Hunters.

I have run Light Hunters twice now and have loved witnessing people building their relationship to light and discovering it in a new way.

I often get emails inquiring if Light Hunters will be available in a different month than it has been offered, so after this session I decided to create some new options for how one can experience the Light Hunters Adventure.

30 Days of Exploring Light

You can now take Light Hunters during a month of your choice.  Just sign up before the month of your choice begins (or notify of which month you would like to take the course) and I will have the course arriving in your inbox each day of the month!   At the end of the course you receive the e-book as well.

The Light Hunters E-Book

As of today, Light Hunters is now available as an E-Book.  In the book you get 36 pages of goodness including the 30 prompts included in the course.  This works well for those of you like a truly self-paced experience where you can explore each prompt one at a time or enjoy it all at once.  It also comes with a Light Hunters Checklist to tuck into your bag and remind you of all of the different types of light.

Both options include an invitation to the Light Hunters Flickr group and are the same price at a totally affordable $39.

You can join in on either option via the Light Hunters page of the course website or in the YAYOM shop

Getting through the Grey Tips

wide arms to the water

Now for more tips for getting through the grey!

This week I’ve got a couple of photography related ideas for you.

Participate in December Views-

For many years now I have participated in Darlene Kruetzer aka HippyUrbanGirl’s December Views.  December Views is all about taking and sharing images on your blog, with no pressure.  Joining in on this always gives me the freedom in this busy season to slow down a bit.

When I saw that she was running it again this year I thought that it was something I needed to mention as a way to get through the grey, to feel part of something and to get inspired to take out your camera.

Get inspired by Your Surroundings and what is fabulously wintery about them-

I just came across these great tips for Winter Photography.  I love the positive approach of the article, especially the idea that you can indeed photograph sunrises in the winter even if you aren’t an early riser!

A Getting through the Grey Giveaway!

As well, I wanted to let you know that the Girl’s Guide to Gear and I decided to do a giveaway for Getting through the Grey and it is happening right now!  They’ll be choosing a winner tomorrow so be sure to enter soon if you’d like a chance to win the spot!

The sharing has begun in the class flickr group and class starts Monday!
